VITREUS
About the Foundation
The Vitreus Foundation is a family foundation established by Zuzana and Petr Zahradník.
At the heart of our work is preserving and advancing the legacy of internationally acclaimed artists Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová. We also support projects that enrich society through art and education.
Alongside these core activities, we build lasting partnerships with organisations whose work creates enduring value and opens up opportunities for future generations.
We have deliberately chosen to keep our focus narrow. We value continuity, long-term collaboration, and projects rooted in principles we share.
“We believe that we should inspire others—and that the most powerful form of inspiration is action. Giving back some of what we have to worthy causes feels natural to us, as does seeking new ways to help move the world forward.”
- Zuzana and Petr Zahradník
What We Do
We focus primarily on long-term projects and partnerships with a clear purpose and the potential to create enduring value. We support initiatives grounded in expertise, strong foundations, and a willingness to collaborate. What matters to us is not simply bringing a project to completion, but ensuring that its impact lasts and that it has the capacity to grow.
The Legacy of Libenský & Brychtová
Preserving and advancing the legacy of Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová lies at the heart of the Foundation’s work.
We are building the Libenský & Brychtová Gallery in Prague, where the work of these two artists will be accessible to scholars, specialists, and the wider public. The gallery will also provide a setting for education, research, and international collaboration, while serving as a home for the study and presentation of their work and the continued development of their legacy.

Music and Arts Education
We support organisations and programmes committed to the long-term development of music and arts education.
We are particularly drawn to projects that take a long-term, systematic approach to working with children, young people, and teachers—nurturing talent, creativity, and personal growth while helping to strengthen the quality of music and arts education in the Czech Republic. Our established partners in this field include the Czech Suzuki Association, whose work introduces children to music through the Suzuki method, and initiatives associated with the Czech Philharmonic, particularly those involving concertmaster Jan Mráček. More recently, we have also begun supporting the violin programme at MenART, a scholarship academy dedicated to music and arts education.

Partnerships and Collaboration
Beyond our principal areas of giving, we work with organisations and projects that share the Foundation’s values and create lasting social value.
Our long-standing partners include Junák – Czech Scouting and Sto skupin, an organisation that operates modern, child-centred preschools. On occasion, we also support individuals or one-off initiatives that reflect the Foundation’s values and long-term direction. One such initiative was our contribution towards the running costs of a preschool for refugee children following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.

Communities and Local Initiatives
The Foundation also supports smaller community-based and local initiatives.
These projects are rooted in places, people, and activities with which the founders have a personal connection. Each contributes in its own way to the vitality of its local community, complementing the Foundation’s principal long-term areas of focus. Among the initiatives we support are the Polubenský Jan association and its restoration of a local church, as well as the Sedlecká association in Jistebnice and its efforts to preserve a historic mill.
